From New Year’s Day, a major road-safety change has come into force across Spain with all vehicles now legally required to carry a connected V-16 emergency beacon.
These small amber lights replace the traditional warning triangles, and can be activated from inside the car to send a 360-degree flashing signal and alert traffic authorities and other drivers via the DGT 3.0 system, improving safety on busy roads.
Only DGT-approved V-16 devices are accepted under the new rule, and failure to carry a certified beacon can result in fines of up to €80.
Drivers are being urged to ensure their V-16 light meets the legal standards before hitting the road this year.
