A commuter train accident in Gelida, Barcelona, has left at least one person dead and around 15 to 20 injured after a containment wall collapsed onto the track and struck a Rodalies train.
The incident occurred on the R4 commuter line between Sant Sadurní d’Anoia and Gelida, where heavy rain is believed to have caused the wall to fall onto the rails.
Emergency services, including 11 ambulances and multiple fire crews, were deployed to the scene under the Ferrocat railway emergency plan, and the train driver has been reported among the fatalities.
Several passengers were treated for injuries, with a number in serious condition, and rail traffic on the line has been interrupted while authorities assess the situation.
