An investigation by the Ministry of Finance has revealed possible cases of fraud and positive discrimination in contracts awarded to businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés.
The contracts, totalling €8.4 million, included letters of recommendation from Begoña Gómez – the wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
The report, submitted to the European Public Prosecutor, highlights serious irregularities in the contracting process, warranting further investigation.
Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, said she had confidence in the judicial process, which should decide if any laws had been broken.
All deny any wrongdoing.
