The Congress of Deputies has rejected a bill to reduce the workweek from forty to thirty-seven and a half hours without a pay cut.
In what is being seen as a setback for the government – especially for Second Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz – opposition parties such as the PP, Vox, and Junts, successfully tabled amendments against the legislation.
Díaz expressed her determination to bring the proposal back to Cabinet despite the setback, highlighting that trade unions are mobilising public support in favour of the measure.
